Allison Hd4060p Service Manual
Hey All, So we are looking at setting up a truck with a box that has an allison automatic in it as it it hard to find farm help that can shift manual gears for silage season. We haven't bought the truck yet but it has a 5 speed allison 4000 series transmission with a C12 cat in front of it, the # on the transmission is actually an HD4560P and I am not sure what that means, I know my manual trannys but I am not to sure about automatics. I was wondering if anyone out there is running this series of transmission on their operation and how it handles lifting heavy loads out of the field as this truck will still be used to haul grain from the combines in fall as well as silage during the summer. We are planning on putting a CBI 22ft box on it if your wondering the box size. Any response is appreciated Thanks. HD 4560P is actually a 6 speed, known as RDS (Rugged Duty Series), the wide ratio version of the 4000 series, the bottom 3 gears are lower then a 4060.
The P indicates it's PTO ready. For the use you are looking at it is the ideal transmission. What power and torque will the C12 be set? What make of truck are you looking? I wouldn't have any other transmission as a gift, that's how ideal they are. Page 6, once by all the propaganda, has a ratio chart. Hope this helps.

My dad went to look at the truck today and I hope to go check it out later this week, we are looking at a few other trucks but this one is looking really good mostly for the transmission. It seems to be easy to find manual transmissions but the automatics are starting to become a popular thing. Most of the guys we have talked to said farmers are snapping them up for the same reason we are looking for one.
