The TruMac series determines nitrogen/protein or carbon/nitrogen in a multitude of organic matrices from foods and feeds to soils and fertilizers. The system is based on the Dumas method of combustion, and provides a result within 5 minutes.

Analysis begins when a macro sample is weighed into a large ceramic boat and loaded into the purge chamber located in the front of the horizontal ceramic high temperature furnace. After the entrained atmospheric gas is purged from the sample, the ceramic boat is introduced into the furnace nominally regulated at a temperature of 1100 C.

Complete oxidation of the macro sample is ensured by the pure oxygen environment within the furnace with additional oxygen being directed onto the sample via a ceramic lance. The ceramic boat and all ash from the sample are removed from the furnace at the end of combustion, leaving the furnace free of ash buildup.

The combustion gases are swept from the furnace into a thermo-electric cooler where the moisture is efficiently removed without the use of chemicals. The remaining combustion gases are collected and equilibrated in a ballast where an aliquot is taken for nitrogen and carbon determination.

Windows -based operating software manages all of the quantitative calculations and saves all of the data for future use on local storage or export it to LIMS. The final result can be displayed as a weight percentage or in parts-per-million as defined by the operator. Features:.
